Private Participation: 5 steps to the start

On Sunday, September 8th, we'll once again take the plunge with as many people as possible into the Amsterdam canals during the Amsterdam City Swim. Whether you're an experienced participant or joining for the first time, please read the following information carefully before registering.

In 5 steps to the start:

1. How to participate: alone or with others

Participate individually or form a team with friends, family, colleagues, or loved ones. Teams can be formed starting from 2 people with no maximum. We encourage you to form as large a team as possible.

To accommodate as many participants as possible on the course, this year's wave allocation (the shift in which you start) will be arranged by the organization. Therefore, you do not need to choose a wave. Ensure all team members register by early August to start together in the same wave. Your wave number and start time will be announced in mid-August. Each team has a team captain who manages the team page and serves as the contact person. After the team captain has created the team, other swimmers can add themselves to the team. Participating individually? Then you'll dive into the canals with other swimmers who have also signed up individually. It's more fun that way!

2. Choose your swim ticket

There are three options:

  • Classic Swim: A 2.1 kilometer route, open to participants aged 15 to 99.
  • Short Swim: A shorter route of 700 meters, also for participants aged 15 to 99.
  • Junior Swim: Especially for younger swimmers aged 10 to 14, with a distance of 700 meters and includes a free accompanying adult aged 18 or older.

Registering early is rewarded: the earlier you register, the more advantageous the rates are.

People with ALS, PLS, or PSMA, and their two companions, can participate for free. There are also free tickets available (under certain conditions) for people with a limited budget.

3. Determine your swimming level

Indicate your* expected swimming time:

As a team member, you will be automatically assigned based on the team unless you are a competitive swimmer. You can always adjust your swimming level in your profile.
*For Junior, choose the expected swimming time of the Junior.

4. Complete your registration

Follow all the steps, make an optional starting donation, and after payment, your registration is final.

You will receive a confirmation email with access to the ACS Platform for updates and fundraising. We ask all participants to aim to raise a minimum of €250 for the ALS Foundation.
