“I have been living with the deadly nerve-muscle disease ALS for two years. The Amsterdam City Swim motivates me to set challenges for myself that I can still achieve. This year, I am participating in the Classic Swim. When I walked onto the event grounds last year, it felt like a warm blanket was wrapped around me: everyone was friendly, and there was a lot of laughter. It was difficult and fun at the same time.”
“We swim for ALS! On one hand, because we love swimming and enjoy setting sporty goals for ourselves. On the other hand, to support research into ALS. We do this with our colleagues from Waternet and Waterschap Amstel, Gooi en Vecht, the community partners of the Amsterdam City Swim. It’s fantastic that the water quality of the canals is good enough to swim in.”
